Incoming students

NOTICE: COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Dear incoming student
If the outburst of Covid-19 in your country of origin is controlled, we will accept your application for an international mobility at Coimbra Agriculture School, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra. However, you must understand that the concretization of the mobility depends on the evolution of the pandemic.
In the current situation, we are planning to have presential classes – at least for the practical lessons. However, if the situation changes, all teaching may return to distance learning.
Furthermore, you must realize that we will not accept responsibility for you return home or for your extended staying in Portugal in case the situation worsens and borders are closed, and you will have to sign a responsibility term before coming to study with us. While with us, you will have to follow all sanitary instructions to prevent spreading of the pandemic, including the use of mask.
If your country of origin is currently under an uncontrolled pandemic situation, we can not guarantee to accept you application.

Coimbra Agriculture School (ESAC) accepts students from Erasmus+ partner European institutions for studies or training periods. Incoming students have to follow ESAC regulations and must bring a Personal Accident insurance.

Teaching language
We do not offer courses fully taught in English. However, most professors will turn to English whenever foreign students are present OR will provide bibliography in English. In some cases, however, classes may be offered only in Portuguese.

Deadline for nomination
1st semester (autumn): 1st April to 31st May
2nd semester (spring): 1st September to 30th November

Portuguese course
We offer incoming students the opportunity to attend a Portuguese course:
-    Portuguese as a foreign language I (30 hours, 6 ECTS) – offered in both semesters (course syllabus);
-    Portuguese as a foreign language II (30 hours, 6 ECTS) – offered in the Spring semester to students staying a complete academic year (course syllabus)

We do not have available rooms at the student residences, but you may find information on available accommodation on BeCoimbra, on Erasmus Student Network Coimbra and on the Student Association of ESAC
